Castle Gallico, with its five towers of stone and brick red, is a beautiful specimen farm fortified: his imposing bulk stands alone on the concrete in the town of Asciano, not far from the village of Montecalvoli, which events and owners has been linked over time.
The family of Sienese Tolomei, bought Castle Gallico in 1319, and toward the end of the century expanded a tower to keep existing products of the earth, over time transformed into a castle-grancia.
I Griffoli, rich silk merchants of Montepulciano, acquired in the first half of 1400 and the Republic of Siena forced them to keep a garrison of troops to protect what was an important strategic outpost.
Passed through several owners, it was towards the end of 1700 donated to the Hospital of Santa Maria della Scala di Siena, then returned to the family and Valais, at the beginning of 1800, passed to the family legacy Terrosi and then, in the first half of this century, the family Fei and Biagini Monte S. Savino.
Recently, after acqusto by a known businessman Roman has been expertly restored and fenced, so, unfortunately, now we can only admire from afar.
