In the Middle Ages there was in Asciano a cloister of Monks of San Galgano, which had the most part of the lands in its country around the palace Monaci(in the past it was called “a’monaci), along the road for Chiusure on the hills westwards, towards the Ombrone valley and, eastwards, they face the hillock of the Cella on the slope of the Copra watercourse. Palace Monaci was erected a chapel dedicated to Saint Galgano and a small “grancia” which is very well protected, because it rises on a steep and narrow farmhouse and only recently, it has been restored to obtain from it a touristic residence.
