The parish of Saint John the Baptist in Lucignano d’Arbia is a sacred building in Lucignano d’Arbia. Mentioned since the beginnings of the X century after the restoration of 1933, it has taken again the Romanesque characteristics, with a structure with only one nave, closed by a semi-circular apse. The three big transversal arches of the nave lean on semi pilasters and lean also the wooden cover of the nave. On the right side there is the tower of which the imposing dimensions reveal a more ancient origin than that of both, the church itself and the small vaulting bell-tower in gothic style. The front is revived by two-coloured prints of the door’s arch, surmounted by a small eye. On the inside, a “Crucifixion” and the saints by Bartolomeo Neroni, called “Il Riccio”(1554-1555).
