The church of the Saint Catherine of the Mercy’s Confraternity is a sacred building situated in the resort of Serre di Rapolano in Rapolano Terme. It has a simple sloping front with a portal with triangular tympanum and a small domical bell tower. The single-nave inside is decorated with 16 square canvas with episodes of Saint Catherine from Siena’s life, a rare cycle of great iconographic importance. On the sides of the high altar, two canvas by Astolfo Petrazzi with Saint Catherine who receives the Redeemer’s heart and Saint Catherine who gives the clothes to the poor. Inside the canvas, there are precious wooden tabernacles, cut and gilded with painted doors. It has a processional banner of high pictorial quality, attributable to Alessandro Casolani, representing the Madonna in glory and the Saints Catherine, Rocco and Sebastian and, on the other side, Saint Laurence and Saint Andrew.
