Orchestra Biography:

"Maestro, it is an honor for us to give you the second gold record of your career," the announcer on duty at the big party held in her honor in Rome in front of the cameras read in 1978. "Thank you, but I am not a Master", a man with the attentive and sincere face of someone used to living human relationships in the light of the sun responds politely with a strong Romagna accent. That minute man was Roberto Giraldi, owner of the Castellina-Pasi orchestra, the orchestra which is a myth for smooth lovers.
Castellina is a small village upstream of Brisighella, a medieval village and spa in turn upstream of Faenza (RA). The accordionist Roberto Giraldi, who was born there, when he went to play in the "city" of Faenza gave, just to understand each other, the name of his country "Castellina" and the nickname remained to him. The passion for fisa had come to him at the age of six, hearing his father play. At the age of seven he already played in some little party but he trained musically in the band of the town where he learned to play the clarinet. But he soon returned to the accordion and with it began his professional activity in the ranks of the Orch. Fenati. It was there that he met Giovanni Pasi. Faentino, Giovanni Pasi had started playing the clarinet as a boy as a self-taught then improving himself in the Army band. Working together the two sympathized and in the sixties, strengthened by their friendship and mutual esteem, they took courage in four hands and formed their own musical ensemble which they called "Castellina-Pasi and the Gaia Romagnoli".
Interpreting in his own way - that is how the heart commands - great classics such as "La cumparsita" and "La Migliavacca", they made themselves known to the general public until they decided to try their hand at composing dancings in which inspiration, fantasy, and passion musicality strongly emerges.
Angelo Galletti was the first to believe in this orchestra. A lucky encounter between Giraldi, Pasi and Galletti. His strong confidence in the potential of the Castellina-Pasi complex convinced him to invest the first gains here, making the first recordings, the first 45 laps and the first LPs. The so-called "smooth boom" that broke out between 1968 and the early 1980s saw the Castellina-Pasi orchestra create successes over successes. Let's talk about composition such as "Il campanello", "Attenti al cane", "Folle sentimento", "Il valzerone", "Caro tango", "Estiva", "Tutto pepe", "Casetta del mio paese", "Parigino", "Mexican Moon", "Santa Monica", "Friends of the Night", "True Love", "Lupine" (theme song of the famous cartoon written with the master Franco Migliacci author of many successes first of all the famous "In the blue painting of blue ") just to name a few, that is songs that made him win two gold records and that today are real milestones in the history of Italian dance music.
For some time there had been talk of classical smooth and "alla Castellina" accordion: a genre, a style had already been born. Several characters contributed to this success, first of all the lyricist Carlo Ferrini and the Galletti-Boston and BMG-Ricordi (already RCA) music editions that have been with the orchestra for over 40 years. Castellina-Pasi.
Above all we should mention the "historical" musicians of the formation such as Franco Trevisani, Pier Flamigni, Lorenzo Patuelli, Mario Benedetti, Gable Mantovani and Irene Vioni. But all the musicians over the years have been important in decreeing the success of the orchestra. In 1994 Castellina had left the stage while remaining artistic director of his orchestra which he then directed from outside the scenes. In the meantime he had identified the right people who could carry on his "creature" very well. Today the Orchestra Castellina-Pasi, under the guidance of Elena Cammarone, continues to produce successful songs that are performed by all Italian dance orchestras: think of "Adriano", "Luna d'Oriente", "Amandoti", " Falling in love "," Pizzica dance ".
In this way, with these premises, the Castellina tradition and accordion "with the heart" continue unchanged even in the third millennium.
