Inaugurated «Signorelli 500, traveling from Cortona to Monte Oliveto», the initiative of the Etruria Photoclub can be seen in the courtyard of Palazzo Casali.

The exhibition was presented on Friday 16 December in the presence of the deputy mayor and councilor for culture, Francesco Attesti, the president of the Photoclub Fabrizio Pacchiacucchi, the deputy lucumone of the Etruscan Academy, Paolo Bruschetti, the president of the Technical Committee of the Maec Nicola Caldarone and the Prior of the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Roberto Donghi.

This is a preview of the celebrations that will characterize Cortona in 2023, on the occasion of Luca Signorelli's 500th birthday. The exhibition includes the shots of the Etruria Photoclub of the works of Luca Signorelli; the frescoes were made by the Cortonese painter in the Abbey in the years 1497 and 1498 and concern the life of San Benedetto.

The panels located in the courtyard of Palazzo Casali display photographs of nine scenes painted by Signorelli, plus some details. On the occasion, the book «Monte Oliveto Maggiore – The Frescoes of Signorelli and Sodoma» was presented in the presence of the author Pierangelo Mazzeschi.

Councilor Attesti recalled the commitment of the Municipality of Cortona which was the first to launch the celebrations dedicated to Luca Signorelli with this initiative and which next year will be the only one to organize an exhibition with the painter's works from all over the world.
