Teatrino Gori
Loc. Serre di Rapolano - 53040 RAPOLANO TERME

The theatre is very small and it was obtained from a building which was sheltered by the circle of walls of the village, in the ancient rooms of the granary, over an oliviera. Its building was wanted by the Cav. Federigo Gori Martini, who probably ordered to build it in the ancient granary, where since years were organized concerts, representations and dancing parties. The theatre has a semi-elliptical plant. The open gallery with only one order, keeps the boxes, which are inspired by theatres of the XVII and XVIII century. The boxes were supported by only a series of columns which separate the stalls from the circular corridor, while the central one, in front of the stage, was reserved to the family Gori Martini. Here played theatrical companies, we organize different kind of shows, masked balls and dances. During the second post-war period the theatre was also used for the first film shows but at that time the Company of amateur actors and most of all the Philarmonic society showed numerous signs of falling. When in 1260 it was inaugurated the Theatre of Serre, named after Giuseppe Verdi, the small theatre was closed, 100 years after the inauguration. The building began a progressive decaying. Used as a store of olives and other goods for the underneath oliviera, it began to be abandoned. Today, the structure has been restored by municipal government, which has also furnished it again and used it for theatrical representations. The theatre is very small and it was obtained from a building which was sheltered by the circle of walls of the village, in the ancient rooms of the granary, over an oliviera.
