The route of the trail runs along farm roads well maintained and easy to follow. It starts from the Ponte d'Arbia, a rest stop along the ancient Francigena and continue along the right bank of the river, which leaves just after crossing the bridge of the tributary Sorra. The road, after a large curve, goes to Saltennano that appears in a beautiful position on a hilltop. After visiting the complex, you continue to walk uphill along a road lined with cypress trees. We get to St. John in Pompeggiano now known as Ville Petroni, a place surrounded by greenery which offers a splendid view. From here you can continue and turn left towards the farm Lombricaia, from where it returns to the bridge on Sorrae then to Ponte d'Arbia. The route of the trail runs along farm roads well maintained and easy to follow.
