Following the final closure of the railway passenger traffic Asciano - Monte Antico allowing the connection of Siena and Arezzo, Grosseto, a group of volunteers with the assistance of the Province of Siena, has reopened the section of railway closed in 1994. The line has begun to function, at certain times of the year, as a tourist railway.

The railway winds along the valleys of the River Ombrone and its tributaries: the Arbia and Orcia, one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany and of great natural, historical and scenic. The train runs through the valley of the fact the famous Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia and then lick the territory of Montalcino, famous for its Brunello wine in Siena and return along the banks of the Ombrone and Arbia. In this last section, the train touches historical places related to the route of the Via Francigena Buonconvento Lucignano d'Arbia, the Grange of Cuna and others of lesser importance.

The initiative of the Nature Train allows you to make a contribution to the preservation of an important heritage of "industrial archeology" that otherwise would have been lost forever. The service is, in fact, provided with steam trains and vintage periwinkle restaorate perfectly. Asciano and Monte Antico, it is also possible to enrich the tourist experience additional hike in the original horse-drawn carriage.

A special industrial archeology: the old mechanical systems to control the level crossing at the station of Monte Amiata.

Alternative routes are also organized, such as bus trips to train wildlife park of Mount Amiata, a unique opportunity, at least at the national level, for those who want to observe wild animals in their behaviors more spontaneous and natural.

You can also combine hiking or biking along paths that, starting from some stations, let's visit areas and places of natural interest, artistic and gastronomic.
