Scultura: Frammenti d’arte intorno al XX secolo

RAPOLANO TERME

Sculrura moderna collocata all'interno di Porta Nuova, sulla sinistra entrando verso piazza Matteotti.

Sienese artist Marcello Aitiani’s biography points out a polyhedral culture, as clearly evident in his personal poetics: it ranges over painting, sculpture, poetry, music, mathematics, multimedia installation. After classical and musical studies and a graduation in Law, in the first half of 80’s he took part in exhibitions with the artists of “new writing” using all his experiences in artistic, musical and electronic field. This multi-disciplinary way continued during the years thanks to important collaborations with poets as Mario Luzi, scientists as Enzo Tiezzi and masters as Piero Aurelio Grazzini. He performed several projects for urban sites: Seduta di Pietra for the Piazza Ritrovata (Rediscovered Square) in Pontedera (Pisa); Iridescenze, rose window for the Collegiata in San Gimignano (Siena), and moreover his joining to Land Art exhibitions has to be pointed out, just as L’Arte nella Città (Triennale di Milano, 1997). Professor at Faculty of Architecture in Florence, he contributed in with art magazines as “Kiliagono”, printed in Milano by Vanni Scheiwiller. The artwork in Rapolano, perfect start point for the Passeggiata ritrovata (Rediscovered Walk) inside Porta Nuova, made in travertine and mixed stones, gathers some of the most important themes of the artist, creating an indissoluble weaving between artistic expressions, from literature to music inside a form that, considering both materials and iconography, reminds to hieratic Roman Art.Sculrura moderna collocata all'interno di Porta Nuova, sulla sinistra entrando verso piazza Matteotti.
