Mauro Berrettini (Buonconvento, Siena, 1943), trained at the Art Institute of Siena and the Art School of Carrara, has taught art education in schools and then devote himself exclusively to sculpture. In 1981, he collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Pietro Cascella, Pomodoro, Costantino Nivola and Joe Tilson, the project "Field of the Sun" at Punta Navaccia, in the municipality of Tuoro sul Trasimeno. In 1984 he made the setting of Piazzetta Artemio Franchi in Siena, vital fulcrum of the Contrada della Torre. He then went on to collaborate on collective sculpture in environmental and urban contexts, such as The Stone Suspended sculpture in the Park of Sculptures of Pievasciata in Chianti and the park built for the new district dell'Agrestone in Colle Val d'Elsa. He is the author of fountains and sculptures in various Italian cities, and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy.
Berrettini, one of the promoters of the project's Walk found, creates an enormous sculpture in Rapolano travertine, with volumes synthetic and enveloping, it adheres to the urban space by inserting harmoniously into the landscape and forming an additional dimension of space and feasible: it is in fact visible in a new perspective to those who use the stairs linking the car park and the city, and can be experienced firsthand by those who cross it.Sculrura modern positioned in front of Porta Nuova, cantilevered over the territory of the plans to the north.
