The author
Jean-Paul Philippe (Altfortville, France 1944) lives and works between Paris and Tuscany. Consacratosi originally to painting, he attended the Beaux Arts in Paris: 1960 was a crucial first trip to Italy, and the following year experience at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Beginning in 1973, now attracted by the impressive marble quarries and the professionalism of the workshops of Carrara, the sculpture becomes the privileged means a work that claims to be close to any group, school or system: an archeology from inner 'intimate experience of the atelier widens to a monumental dimension related to the urban and natural environment. Significant of its production in 1993, the noted Site transitoire, a monument installed on the ridge of the Crete near Asciano absolute dialogue with the landscape. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions, mainly with the gallery Jeanne-Bucher in Paris.
The work rapolanese, located in a vantage point that ranges from nature to the humanised landscape, stands, like a totem to its essential forms and the concept of transiency recurrent in the works of the master on the rough-hewn blocks of travertine, the balance is compromised by a tilted block on top, smooth, while the lists of metal on the edge creates additional surface reflection emphasizing the linearity.
