MONTERONI D'ARBIA

 LISTEN THE AUDIO GUIDE

he church of San Fabiano is located next to the castle of the same name, near Monteroni d'Arbia.

Located along the Arbia river, on the opposite side of the town of Monteroni, the church is already mentioned in 867; at the beginning of the fourteenth century it was a suffragan of the parish church of Lucignano, but during the sixteenth century, given the scarcity of income, it was united with the parish of Monteroni.

With a single nave, with a semicircular apse, the church has the most interesting motif in the ancient brick facade.

Accompanied by a bell gable, it retains some interesting decorative elements on the façade, such as the architrave of the portal with the Forteguerri coat of arms and dated 1657.
