Oratorio dell'Arciconfraternita della Misericordia

BUONCONVENTO

 LISTEN THE AUDIO GUIDE

The Oratory of the Arch confraternity of the Misericordia(already Oratory of Saint sebastiano’s Society) is a sacred building in Buonconvento. Most part of its furnishings are to be found in the Museum but there are still “in loco” some objects, which are linked to the life of the brothers of the Confraternity, among which there are two rare wooden-painted goblet of the end of the XVI century with small figures of Saint Pietro and Saint Sebastiano, which were used in the past to hold the spheres which were drawn during the voting; there are also a fifteenth-century ceremony plate in embossed brass and a fifteenth century ewer, probably of German origin. More recent, but even rich in charm, are the twentieth-century litter, which is exposed in the ancient chapel, and the brothers’ cowls in a raw cloth. On the main altar there is a valuable crucifix of the XV century. The Oratory of the Arch confraternity of the Misericordia(already Oratory of Saint sebastiano’s Society) is a sacred building in Buonconvento.
