Strada nazionale Cassia da Monteroni a Siena

MONTERONI D'ARBIA

The Cassia is one of the main roads of the roman period and it doesn’t need to be presented except for saying that this area often corresponds with the medieval lay-out of Via Francigena. Entering the province of Siena from val d’Orcia, it proceeds along the whole Val d’Arbia until Siena. Even if it is mainly a road of the bottom of the valley, it allows to observe interesting landscapes of the Crete. Unfortunately the increasing urbanization along this road has often changed a part of the landscape. The Cassia is one of the main roads of the roman period and it doesn’t need to be presented except for saying that this area often corresponds with the medieval lay-out of Via Francigena.
