DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
Vertical rectangular polychrome painting with a small molded and gilded frame.
The work illustrates the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt to escape Herod's Massacre of the Innocents, an episode recounted in the Gospel of Matthew.
In the center foreground, the Child Jesus raises his eyes toward his Mother and holds a small bird in his right hand.
With his left hand, Saint Joseph urges the Virgin Mary to continue her journey, while in the lower right, an angel leads the donkey by a rope.
