Santa Maria a Torre a Castello is one of the many small churches scattered throughout the Sienese countryside.
Parish seat for many centuries, it was then incorporated into the parish of Sant'Agata.
In recent years, it was sold by the Episcopal Curia to private individuals.
It is a complex dating back to around 1500 and made up of: church, rectory, school. farmer's house and some sheds.
