Palazzo del Podestà
This building, which is like the biggest tower walls of the country, has been for at least three centuries (from three hundred to five hundred) the headquarters of governors or mayor of Asciano. The proof of this comes from many noble badges that are embedded in its facade. Moreover this building is located at the end of Piazza del Grano, the commercial heart of the country in the Middle Ages, and thus well placed compared to the control of commercial activities and production.
Unfortunately, in recent times, perhaps because of its size, the building was first converted into a theatre with a large stage, and palchetti gallery. Around the 50 years of the last century was more heavy interventions to be transformed into modern cinema. With the removal of the latter activity, the building has lost all interest is available commercially and is, today, almost abandoned.
