In Monteroni d’Arbia it is kept a wonderful fortified mill of the first half of the XIV century. The imposing building is one of the possessions of the near grancia of Cuna, as testify some documents of the XVI century, among which there is one of 1590 which quotes the estimate of the rent share, amounting to 8 liras. From this and another document of 1552 we know that the mill worked with two millstones, even if it had four of them, probably because of the decrease of the flow of the waters which fed the mill course. The charming hydraulic system, with its round arched-pipes, allowed to the water to reach the inside of the mill to produce the hydraulic energy, giving it back on the outside, unchanged in its chemical-physical characteristics. Recent studies have shown how in the period of highest activity, the Mill was able to produce up to a half-ton of flour a day.
