Madonna di Montacuto
The church of the Madonna of Montauto is a sacred building in Santo Stefano, near Rapolano Terme. It was built in 1676 by Ottaviano Martini around a small tabernacle frescoed with the Madonna with the Christ Child, which is considered a miraculous image. We talk about the apparition of the Madonna to a young shepherd lass who used to decorate every day the tabernacle with flowers while she was pasturing the flock of sheep. In time of famine, she couldn’t see to the flowers and to her maintenance, and the Madonna appeared inviting her to come back home where she would have found plenty of food for all the year for her and her parents.
