Asciano come era: Porta Massini e dintorni
Asciano - Da inizio Giugno al 30 Settembre in piazza della Basilica
Tutti i luoghi, con il tempo, cambiano in parte o fortemente fisionomia.
Se il cambiamento è lento e meditato, il risultato è spesso un loro arricchimento visivo e architettonico.
Così non è stato per il Centro Storico di Asciano, nel secolo scorso.
Il luogo più stravolto e violato è stato Porta Massini, minata e distrutta dai tedeschi in ritirata durante l’ultimo conflitto mondiale.
Purtroppo la parziale ricostruzione di quanto distrutto, sulla spinta di un velleitario modernismo anni ‘50, ha contribuito ulteriormente a stravolgerne l’identità.
Si è rinunciato a ricostruire il contesto, consolidando la tremenda ferita che ha completamente stravolto l’identità strutturale del borgo medioevale.
Con questa piccola iniziativa tentiamo di poter far
rivivere quel luogo, nella memoria degli ascianesi,
così come potremmo vederlo ancor’oggi
se non ci fosse stata la guerra.
